The First Annual Charioke Marathon

hosted by Lucky Voice and Refugee Action

On 02 November 2009, Serenity Foundation linked up with Refugee Action and Lucky Voice, along with a number of other charities working in the UK and overseas to hold the first annual Charity Karaoke Marathon.

We fielded a team of five singers to take part in this 10-hour non-stop karaoke fundraising marathon and they raised money through individual sponsorship for donating their vocal chords and for completing this creatively challenging, physically exacting, aurally exhausting sing-a-thon. In short it took the same format as a charity run, but with a better soundtrack!

Over the course of the 10 hours, our team sang around 140 songs ranging from Tom Jones' Delilah to Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars, taking in The Wombles Theme Tune and Aqua (yes that song) along the way.  There are a few videos of our songs posted below if you want to see our efforts.

Thanks to the team and their generous sponsors, we raised a grand total of  £875 and special mention must go to the dynamic duo, Alex and Tyrrell, who won the Michael Jackson tribute category with their excellent rendition of Man in the Mirror (see below).

It's not to late to make make a contribution to the teams for their efforts, as the JustGiving pages will remain active for a while. You can find them by clicking on the team members name below, or if you prefer you can sponsor the whole team here.

Thanks again to our fantastic team:

The Wombles theme tune

This was one of the first few songs we sang in order to get over the 'making fools of ourselves' jitters

Hey Big Spender

This was towards the end when we were all losing our voices and energy, but still still a good rendition by Tyrrell
